Labor-contract compliance

Every bid line checked against your contracts and laws

ShiftLine keeps company policy, labor law and union contract rules in one library, applies them while the lines are built, and checks every line afterwards — with the clause or statute behind each finding.

One rule library, five scopes

Rules apply at the company, law (federal or state), union contract, station or workgroup level. They stack automatically for each workgroup: narrower scopes can tighten a rule, and law never loosens. Conflicts are detected before you solve.

Every enforced rule links to its source. Starter packs for US federal, California, New York and Washington rules, plus common contract terms, give you a starting point — not legal advice.

Labor rules library with company, law and contract scopes; each rule shows its value, where it applies, hard or soft enforcement and its source, such as a statute section.

Compliance checks with citations

After every solve and every manual edit, each line is checked against the rules resolved for its workgroup. Findings are grouped by rule, and each one shows its scope and the clause it came from, ready for labor relations review.

Compliance tab: no hard-rule violations, 47 lines checked against 18 resolved rules; one soft finding cites the union contract article it comes from.
Compliance: every line checked; each finding names the rule, its scope and the contract clause.

Typed rules, not free text

Each rule has a type, a value and an enforcement level, so the solver can apply it exactly.

  • Hours and rest

Shift lengths, start-time increments, weekly hours, rest between shifts, consecutive work days and days off.
  • Meal and rest breaks

Break length and the window it must fall in; the solver places each break inside its window.
  • Part-time caps and mix

Limits on part-time lines or hours, and full-time/part-time targets.
  • Premiums and pay

Overtime and premiums such as night differentials feed the cost estimate.
  • Split shifts and meetings

Split-shift rules, and overlap so crews can meet at shift change.
  • Hard or soft

Hard rules are never broken; soft rules carry a weight so the solver trades them off against coverage and cost.

From contract PDF to enforceable rules

  • Upload contracts and statutes

Store collective bargaining agreements, statutes and policies in a private, encrypted file store, with their text extracted for search and questions.
  • AI-proposed rules, human-approved

When AI is on for your company, ShiftLine proposes typed rules with clause citations. Nothing is enforced until someone with the right role approves it.
